Why do the East and West fight?
It’s pretty simple. People don’t like or want to fight but certain corrupt governments/minority of people do. These certain corrupt governments/minority of people (found either in East or West) tend to feed on the naivety and incredulity of average people like parasites do, in an attempt to gain power and control over them.
The myth of the differences b/w East and West has been propogated in History and via Media. But I think people of this world are smart enough to figure out that the difference b/w East and West just boils down to “humans occupying diferent geographical areas”
Why do people buy this propaganda?
Basically, b/c they don’t know any better. They feel safe and protected when their governments promises them security. And who doesn’t love their own life and that of their loved ones? Hence it becomes easy for them to sit in their cozy homes and watch what’s happening all around the world (people dying in illegal wars and occupations) and not take a step to prevent it.
There is also a small fraction of people with violent tendencies. These people are found in all religions. They tend to distort the religious teachings and use them for their own evil ends. Now, this naïve small fraction of people is obviously really vital to certain bigger powers. Hence these are most conveniently manipulated via the media or other means. Violence begets violence. One ought to ask oneself this question: Why do people become violent? Were they mistreated in some way? Are they seeking revenge on some previous injustice? Are they just trying to gain some sort of recognition? Or are they truly psychotic and twisted? I believe given human nature, we will find really less number of violent people in the last category of “psychotic individuals”
How to prevent all this mess?
I believe the only way to world peace is mass awareness. Masses of average people must realize that they themselves constitute a world power. They must not allow any sort of division between them due to their religious, cultural, ethnic backgrounds etc. True a Muslim may not go to a bar b/c he/she is forbidden to drink but at the same time, this same person may befriend someone who does drink. The basis of this friendship ought to be mutual understanding, respect and love for fellow human beings. That’s what Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) taught us. Religious and personal beliefs ought not become the root to divisions and discrimination.
Does any religion preach violence?
According to my sister Ayesha, who has done readings on different religions, none of the religions preach violence. Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, etc. all teach a basic message is that of love, peace and understanding b/w humans.
Bottom line is that to have World Peace, people have to:
o Be Aware and Educated about religions, cultures etc.
o Be Trusting and Loving
o Be Communicative and Open
o Be Forgiving and Understanding
o Un-imposing with regards to religious beliefs
o Be tolerant of each others’ religious views
<<As Allah tells Mohammad (via the Quran) to state to the cheifs of Makkah who were prosecuting Muslims for their beliefs: “To you is your belief and to me is mine”. >>
o Be active in community and must maintain a healthy dialogue with one’s government
o Be able to peacefully demand change from “power to government” to “power to people”
o Stop labelling each other as radical Christian or radical Muslim. Its this labelling that causes divisions, intimidation, fear and hatred
Just sharing my humble opinion.
